There is a peculiar kind of stillness halfway through a flight. The world outside has disappeared into blue light, the cabin becomes its own temporary room, and a drink on the tray table is enough to suggest that time has slowed down for a moment.

I made this photograph while travelling in the United States. What interested me was the contrast between the almost black seat, the small cup and that intense blue coming through the window. It is less a record of a destination than of the suspended time spent getting there.

About the paper

Hahnemühle has been making papers since 1584 and is known for its high quality standard. Photo Rag is a 308 g/m² white cotton paper with a soft feel and lightly textured matte surface, giving prints rich colour, deep blacks and fine detail. It is acid- and lignin-free and highly resistant to ageing. Specifications: 92.5% whiteness, Dmax 1.82, matte gloss level, lightly textured surface, optical brighteners, and 100% cotton composition.

Shipping and fulfilment

Prints are made to order, so please allow approximately one to two weeks for production and delivery. Limited-edition prints may take slightly longer because they are signed before shipping. Shipping costs vary by destination and are kept as low as practical worldwide.
