A structure can stop being a structure when you look at it for long enough. In this black-and-white photograph, repeating metal lines and rectangular forms flatten into a field of rhythm, contrast and interruptions. Scale becomes difficult to judge; what might be architecture starts to feel more like a drawing.

I am drawn to that shift, when something functional becomes abstract simply because of where the frame begins and ends. The image leaves the wider view out on purpose and lets the pattern do the work.

About the paper

Hahnemühle has been making papers since 1584 and is known for its high quality standard. Photo Rag is a 308 g/m² white cotton paper with a soft feel and lightly textured matte surface, giving prints rich colour, deep blacks and fine detail. It is acid- and lignin-free and highly resistant to ageing. Specifications: 92.5% whiteness, Dmax 1.82, matte gloss level, lightly textured surface, optical brighteners, and 100% cotton composition.

Prints are made to order, so please allow approximately one to two weeks for production and delivery. Limited-edition prints may take slightly longer because they are signed before shipping. Shipping costs vary by destination and are kept as low as practical worldwide.
